Spring in the Studio
We are starting to thaw out and warm up in the Studio, the sun is shinning for longer each day and with our pots drying faster it feels like we can get work finished a little quicker than the slow winter months.
After a super busy rush to make enough stock for the festive period in November and December, the beginning of the new year tends to be fairly slow for me so I use the time to re stock. With warmer spring days in mind I started with 40 or so vases in different sizes to fill the studio shelves in time for spring.
Glazed mostly in my Oatmeal or White Mint glaze, but I decided to take some time and hand paint with two shades of blue overglaze pens to create a foliage pattern. After some glaze testing I brushed on some green glaze over a couple of the vases, dipped in oatmeal and I am really pleased with the end result…See pictures below for the end result of each of these glaze styles and some of the making process.
Next up I have a batch of 40 or so tumblers to glaze, a few large wide bowls, and little batch of tiny bowls which are all bisque fired and ready to glaze, though I am undecided so far on which glaze style to use. More blues or greens?
And finally for this spring post, I am aiming to get an online shop update together this month so be sure to subscribe to my mailing list if you would like to know when it will happen.
